a wedding debrief.......

ok, so another family wedding has come and gone........they tend to resemble each other in so many ways....to the extent that i felt compelled to explain to my eldest's girlfriend that the wedding style on display was not necessarily the wedding style preferred by well.......me and my spouse.....married 24 years as of tomorrow........i explained that we had a perfectly nice 11:30 am ceremony followed by a cold amish ham and the usual sides at my parent's house......with a violinist......a simple dress made by the bride.....and the money not spent on the event put toward a three week european honeymoon......as late as last evening there are those who find this choice incredible......that we opted out of the dj in a smokey banquethall/bingo parlor with a hot buffet with an over-the-top ivory satin dress with embroidery and multiple attendents........no kegs of beer.....no vegetable tray with ranch dressing dip.........gentle readers....there was a bit of shock and awe that my wedding date actually preceeds the formulation of ranch dressing....imagine?!.........no ranch dip!!!!!!.......i still have my dress....cannot fit in it.....but it is there in case anybody else wants simple nuptuals followed by an elegant but streamlined reception.......
