mamma's day off......

ok, so....i freely admit that if i were more organized, i would have made better use of my freebie day off.....i returned home after my departmental christmas breakfast and a stop at the h-burg kroger's with the ingredients to make 1)chocolate truffles 2) brazil nut sticks 3) lemon shortbread crescents 4) apricot bars 5)orange poppyseed cookies......and when i reached for the recipes....they were not in the (new-ish) recipe box......and not in the old one......i did track them down to a basket on my desk upstairs....no clue how they ended up in that particular spot.....all but one recipe, i should add....the recipe for the apricot bars is from the back of an old gourmet magazine....the entire last page was apricots and there was a photo of these bars......i have searched high and lo for this single scrap of paper...because my eldest specifically requested them when i mentioned my cookie-baking goal for my day off....oy!....i tried epicurious.com...which catalogs newish gourmet recipes....but this preceeds such newfangled recipe banks......granted, the doughs for the rest of the recipes are chilling as i type......and chilling is essential for most cookie dough.....it is just the notion that i reached for it where it always was, and i probably didn't put it back when i last used it.......only my feeble self to blame.....
