je ne veux pas apprendre

ok, so.....this was the line being presented on my new learn-french-while-you-drive cd's when i picked up my daughter after her volunteer session at the animal shelter......she looked at me, and we (collective) burst out laughing.....it was a precious moment......i, however, feel the exact opposite about learning.....despite 30+ years at a standstill with les mots francais.....the english-speaking guy told me emphatically in his opening remarks that he is proud of my dsire to learn french....and that with practice, and with a willingness to make mistakes, i can learn and/or improve my language skills.....this fellow, by the way, is a professor at u of ill, and sounds vaguely like the d. anderson of the french language learning world.....but i digress......i listened and repeated between stops at the aldi, the kroger, the gas station, the animal shelter, and back home.....somewhere along the way i must have missed the phrase je veux....doesn't even sound familiar.....but i know it for the here and now.....speaking of my errands...i ran into a dear friend that i have not seen since i saw her at the food lion last easter....with her extensive shopping list....and it was good to not only catch up, but share a few laughs.....gosh.....2 days of good conversation......i'm nearly on a roll......who knows who will come my way tomorrow......j'aime parler avec mes amis.......
