ok, so this is yet another politcal opinion i will not be reading at work this day....go figure...... The Kentucky governor's race isn't until 2007, but man, there are some serious fireworks already happening.
Jack Richardson IV, who heads the state's largest county GOP group, said he had considered going public with his sentiments about Fletcher for six months but thought the governor would realize on his own that re-election was out of reach.
"We're talking about a man who's no longer worthy of our support because of his stubbornness to not listen to sound advice and who makes the worst choice every time," Richardson said in an interview before his 3 p.m. announcement at Jefferson County GOP headquarters [...]
"There's no sense in going over the edge of the cliff with this fellow. The Republican Party is made up of thousands of loyal people who have built this party into a majority party," Richardson said. "We can't allow one man to drag the rest of the party down because of his political ineptitude."
Other top Republicans in the state have weighed in, and there's every indication that Sen. McConnel's considerable machine is behind this new push.
Fletcher is one of the most unpopular governors in the country, saddled with incompetence and criminal behavior. He's hanging on for dear life, but can he hold on?
Rep. Ben Chandler, though coy about his 2007 intentions, looks to be by far the best Democratic candidate for the state house.
