marginalia.....

ok, so.....i came home from work today early and went to bed, hoping to nip these symptoms in the bud....couldn't quite fall asleep, given that i cannot breathe...and lying down makes me feel as if i am drowning...but i digress....from the book i am reading, and picked up to lull me to sleep as i snuggled down inside the flannel sheets .......i started a chapter over......and was lucid enough to notice faint pencil marks....a straight vertical line...wispy yet deliberate....the first such passage i noticed: 'Everything we do that isn't directly centered on work revolved around concealment, seclusion, ways of evasion.'....another tagged sentiment i especially liked...'Every sentence has a truth waiting at the end of itand the writer learns how to know it when he finally gets there.' ....i am pretty fuzzy on most of the chapters i read this afternoon...and will have to go back and reread them before i move on to where my bookmark is placed......i want credit for the bookmark.....i try to be kind when the book is not my own.....i would never write in the margins of a borrowed book.....only the owner retains such rights....which makes these markings all the more interesting, as they are potentially insightful into the mind of he that lent me the book....granted, actual comments in the margins would be the easiest path to insight, but the simple verticals lines allows the author to retain the upperhand........
