nothing much to talk about.......

ok, so......i am back home from helping with a cross country event.....and i was kinda surprised that over the 3 hours i was in close quarters with another c.c. mother i could come up with nothing in common on which to base pleasant conversation......couldn't even talk about the d-ville/boyle game because she finds cross-town rivalries troubling and doesn't care for football in general.....ok......and she has no children in college/none even thinking about college yet.....and though she argued off and on with her 14-year-old daughter, i wasn't going there......ah well..just not how things used to be when our older two were involved in sporting events.....and so there were long stretches of silence....in which i kinda wondered if she really didn't have any notion of making pleasant conversation with me.....thankfully a MM from the good old days showed up with a big hug and an update on her numerous children and polite inquiries about my own ....and that is how i'll choose to remember this day........
