virginia woolf

ok, so today is the birthday of robert burns, somerset maugham, and virginia woolf.......i am quite unfamiliar with anything written by burns short of auld lang syne......the same with maugham......but woolf.....her piece...a room fo one's own.......is quite wonderful, especially for any woman who has a hankering to write...or blog......i am not sure that the little computer room counts as a room of one's own, as it must be shared.....but only one can sit in here at a time so there is an element of privacy...........woolf suffered greatly from bouts of depression.......a quote from virginia 'on the outskirts of every agony sits some observant fellow who points'.......i am not sure what it means but i like how it sounds.......her father published a dictionary, and encouraged his daughter to read widely......he advised her, in so many words...to read what she liked no matter if anybody else liked it, and to refrain from praising books that she did not like........there is great wisdom in those parental words.......i have read to the lighthouse numerous times, finding greater depth each and every time i pick it up.......her stream of consciousness must mesh with the way my own brain rambles......
