vacation

ok, so i might have forgotten to note that i am on vacation....a full week of paid vacation i must add......and the tentative itinerary is a compromised balance of sorts........1 day of historic proportions (philadelphia and the birth of a nation), 1 evening of relatives (ecw's eldest brother in the greater dc area), 1 day of gardens/old homes (longwood and winterthur), 1 day of academia (princeton), and 1 day of the big city (moma for some of us, ellis island/statue of liberty for the others).........maybe a stop at an architectural marvel on the way home (fallingwater- scw and i have actually been there, but it was a monday.....and only the grounds could be toured, not the house)...something for everybody......we should also be able to catch a glimpse of part of the jfk-50 on the way up....for the nonrunning crowd......the jfk is an annual 50 mile event for the most stalwart/foolhardy souls....in our circle of friends, those who turn 50 years of age are expected to actually do this 50-mile event...go figure....and so we are leaving the care and feeding of our pets to my mother who lives across the street, and to the next door neighbor who usually feeds at least one of our dogs every day......i will blog if and when i get the chance.......i did look up free hots spots that i use along the way.....alas...i have not yet been able to blog from my handheld.......heck.....i am hoping that i figure out how to download driving directions.....i do have them printed out, but i really want the smug feeling of accomplishment with reading pda manual and actually making the procedure work.........
