wildflower walk

ok, so.....my daughter and i rallied to get ourselves up and dressed and down to the wildlife refuge for the wildflower walk.....and were stunned to have a crowd of 40 souls also in search of flora....to manage the throng the organizers wisely split us into two smaller groups, and we set out on opposite ends of the trail......i found myself trailing directly behind a woman that i did not immediately recognize, but identified before i said anything callous...and i found myself editing my commentary.....making certain i did not mention such key words as husband, mowing, neighbor, gunshots, skunks or extended courtroom drama for example.....we were looking at the toad trilliums that were along and in the path.....and i almost mentioned that i have to remind my husband when he mows the woodlot to be careful not to mow them down where they have spread from the stand of trees.....this dear woman's husband was gunned down by a neighbor while he was out mowing the lawn, later to claim he was trying to shoot a skunk......this incident happened several years ago, but it is not something easily forgotten......she brought up her late spouse as we walked, at a stopping point i noted a buckeye tree, and she mentioned that her spouse had lived in ohio for a time......but i digress from the wildflowers.....we saw lots of wild phlox, and wild ginger, and a yellow poppy that i have never before seen....and dutchman's britches......and twin-leaf that flowers white......and false rue anemone....which i voiced was a mean name for a flower....to call it false...and suggested that we call it alternative rue anemone instead......i lovely outing, that ended up lasting 2 hours......and now out to my personal wildflower refuge to mulch more beds.....
