incongruous

ok, so......my 8th grader is watching the last of a disney movie as i sit and blog...such a contrast to how i spent my morning.......signing a pregnant 8th grader up for a gov't program......she was by herself...no parent nor boyfriend.....and when i asked how her family had taken the news she replied something to the effect that her older sister was pregnant so her mom thought that she might as well have two grandchildren as one.....wtf?......by law our agency must report underage sexual contact to social services, and thankfully that task does not fall to me.....all i had to do was to convince this 8th grader to stop smoking and to start drinking milk and that the fact that she had gained weight since her last visit was something she'd have to get used to.....what mother lets her 8th grader date anybody, let alone someone over the age of 16?.....and to let her go it alone......many people have failed this child, including her parent(s).......so the next time my child asks me why she cannot have a boyfriend.....i will have ready emotions at hand to accentuate my refusal.....
