still crazy after all these years.....

ok,so......i walked on the treadmill during the 7:30 pm gossip show time-slot....but needed just a bit more quality programming to get my 2 miles in.....and so i lucked into a repeat broadcast of the paul simon library of congress gershwin award show....which featured folks like stevie wonder and paul singing me and julio, and lyle lovett covering 50 ways to leave your lover.....as well as clips of simon singing homeward bound on snl with george harrison....and paul singing mrs robinson at yankee stadium at joe dimaggio's memorial service...the footage ended with phillip glass on the gershwin piano playing variations on sounds of silence...as only phillip glass can.....a nice surprise for a hot and sultry wednesday......oh yeah....and james taylor sang still crazy, but not until lorne michaels, producer of snl, gave a bit of a roast...seems he has lived across the hall from simon in manhattan for 30 years....and conived to get simon on snl numerous times, including the time he coerced simon to sing still crazy on live tv wearing a turkey costume......i actually remember watching snl that evening.....late, late 70's.......gosh how time flies when you are having a good time......and this from youtube.....one of my favorite s&g songs....
