stop-gap stories....

ok, so....i did order a few used paperbacks based on npr.org's summer reading pieces.....2 by Carson McCullers......member of the wedding and the heart is lonely hunter.....and then another i actually heard reviewed on fresh air a while back...Eat, Pray, Love One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy India, and Indonesia by Elizabeth Gilbert....as yet none have arrived.....and so i am rereading mysteries.....a collection of three Lord Peter Whimsey novellas by Dorothy L. Sayers......set in the early 20th century......in an age far removed from my current circumstance.....the London of titled gentry, butlers, clubs, and country house parties.....i fully admit that none of these works are the new Ulysses....but then I have already dispensed with that masterpiece and must move on......as bedtime reading goes....mysteries are just the thing.....especially mysteries i read long enough ago as to forget who-dunnit

ok,so.....dlsayers first story is quite anti-semitic....i cannot recall reading before the part about the murder victim being an aging hebrew....or whimeys's mother complaining in the City that Everybody Ishmaels together....and i do not even know what she means by that.....
