accomplishments.....

ok, so our middle child has been named a national merit semi-finalist......and he will be the first to assert that this is no big deal.........dhs had 2 students to earn this distinction.......while big metropolitan schools like louisville manual had 30 semifinalists............well, that is all well and good.....but in the final round those that make these decisions look at more than grades.....they look for more than sat scores..........they look for that extra something.................and i sincerely doubt that those 30 or so from manual or those 30 or so from lexington dunbar have as much personal conviction to learn or to acheive or to aspire or to experience anything to match my homegrown scholar...i sincerely doubt that the manual or dunbar semifinalists have had the gumption to ride across america on a bicycle.....................no mother could ask for a child that more channels the great minds of our memory....jefferson comes to mind......a man for all seasons.....and no mother could be more proud........
