it's hard work.......

ok, so i have spent the past 3 hours of my life digging.....dirt........into a wheel barrow.........the county surprised us by finally correcting the drainage problem...which had shunted rainwater from my mother's yard downhill toward our house......the county dug up part of the asphalt....and widened/regraded a 75-foot stretch on the section of our property we call the 'woodlot'..our little buffer between us and the next door neighbor.....the county fixed it....and left 3 piles of dirt...and a load of clods of old paving material and clay....and drove away.......so......we have raked and dug, and evened out the dirt so that we can replant grass before the weeds take it all over.........more than one of our neighbors stopped to say....'that looks like too much work...'yeh, right..........luckily, there was no loss of trees........the nice thing about manual labor is the closure...when you are done..you can see it, prove it.......lay down upon it.......i like that about projects.......when one gives out information, or good advice....there is no such feeling of closure.......rather an ambiguousness.....that my words have gone out into the world, but whtthere good will come of them is uncertain at best.......ah well.......i will sleep well tonight..............
