ok, so when mm runs out of new literature to read, she always goes back to the best of the classics.....madame colette has such a way with words, with sentiment, with life's rough patches, with guarded optimism.....the book i chose at random....the blue lantern, is one of her last published works.....the blue lantern refers to the blue light she kept on in her palais royale apartment when she wrote....on her blue paper.....the book reads like a blog............a freely written memoir of the end of her life......the part i have re-enjoyed so far remembers her last trip to a spa in switzerland for treatment of her arthritis and to 'reduce'....she asks for cheese a nd butter to go along with her bread at breakfast, and she is told that there is none...........'what? in the land of gruyere you have no cheese?'.....she admonishes...........i suppose it if ever win the lottery...like the minnesota lunch ladies..........i will buy a paris apartment in palais royale.............and blog on a blue-screened laptop...........
