cocoon.....

ok, so last night i dragged out the feather comforter.......anticipating the cold weather that descended as promised.......when i get home today i will stuff it into the duvet-cover........but for at least 1 evening it was on top of everything else.....and made the bed into a virtual cocoon...of cozy proportions.......too cozy to get up without a strggle this morning........hard to imagine that the comforter has held up so well....it was made out of several of my grandmother's feather ticks......when we got married 23 years ago......so the feathers are at least that old and possibly 50+ years old, if my grandmother started her own housekeeping with them....though i suspect that she simply saved chicken feathers over the years, and made ticks as she had enough to fill each adequately.........such a luxury...a feather comforter.........
