ok, so mm is looking forward to alias, tonight at 9:00...........one of the few shows that i watch faithfully..........which means that we must make it back from lex by then after all of the stops.........at least 1 goodwill, the yale recruiter at the downtown library, the kentucky theatre to see lost in translation, wild oats and joseph-beth.........that's all i have in mind.......
this morning cayle and i waited in line to go through the light at 3rd and lexington....right in front of the older rodes' new driveway....there were 2 snakes crossing their driveway..........we became concerned that they would try to cross traffic, and that we would run them over.........much as i do not like snakes i do not want them to die under my tires........thankfully, they both vered (veared, viered, veered?) off into the grass going toward the large, lovely rodes house on the corner..........
last night after work, the old-enough and the almost old-enough c-w's lined up the beers from the friday night octoberfest beertasting for our own tasting........well.........i have never tasted such things before...even when traveling in germany during octoberfest (on our honeymoon)....there was one beer that scw described as a 'belly-beer', which turned out to not be half as dark and thick as the one we finally called the 'gravy' beer...........there was one the color of pumpkin juice that had a strange, un-identifiable aftertaste that was unpleasing, another that was the color of dark urine......we did not like that one either..........there was a smooth-ish one that was semi-dark that was at least drinkable.........the kentucky light ale...not even from germany.......was the easiest to drink........i guess we of germanic origin lack the dark beer gene.....or at least it is severely suppressed.......i am reminded of our trip to lambsheim, and how cousin edwin was so pleased that our whole group liked their beer.......but i remember that beer as much lighter and smoother than any we tasted last night...........
my spouse thinks that my plan to spend a long weekend in paris in january is craziness, which means that i will probably figure out how to make it work.......i want to go to the smaller 'house' museums, and eat well both lunch and supper, and buy lots of french literature for scw's ap test/sat II test, and drink cafe au lait in cafes warmed by open fires, and order sancerre by the bottle of the wine list, and maybe find another neat needlepoint pillow kit.........that's all i want out of this potential trip........
