birds and bees

ok, so.....i sat on my waterfall patio reading a book this evening.....and was amused that my cat sidled down my way....from her perch under the birdfeeder.....she tried to sit on my lap....and failing at that....she settled herself on the next chair to ponder her prey from afar.....i was pleased to catch a few glimpses of the oriole in the high branches......i had intended to sit in the red Adirondack's chairs...but the bees have descended on the fallen mulberries.....i am rereading the snow leopard by Peter Matthiessen...i had forgotten how many birds and plants he recorded in this diary of a long and arduous trek.....no orioles....but species i will never chance to see.....unless i get it in my craw to hike from Kathmandu to the crystal monastery.......you never know.....
