ok, so in a fit of boredom i set off in search of new reading material in my own home.........i have reread all of the harry potter series this summer since reading the new one, so that i could reread it fully reminded of all that had transpired prior.......i reread all of jane austen last summer........all of agatha christie on previous summers.....all of colette more than once...........i have read most of our list for book club...and those that i have not read i do not yet own........soooooooo, i ventured into the room of our only absent child to see what splendors lurked on his shelves........i selected running with scissors, a memoir likened to the style of david sedaris....supposedly this is a true story of this person's childhood....even looking at the picture on the back, i am unclear whether it was written by a man or a woman, as there is great gender conflict..... and serious wit......and, i am certain......some gaps in memory versus made-up memories........for example.....he/she is recalling an instance when the crazy poetess mother is getting ready for a poetry reading...she is wearing pucci and high heals....and feels like there is 'something missing'......she reaches for her box of feminine supplies and takes 2 pads, peels off the backs...and makes her own shoulder pads........now......this instance was supposedly late 60's/early 70's.........30 years ago at least........if my memory serves me, peel-off sticky technology did not come along until much later........wonder if there is a peel-off sticky sort of web site to prove or disprove this memory........ of course, i may be just being mean about this tale, which strikes me as both contrived and over-the-top to be as true as purported........i will just put the book back, and wait for comments from the book's owner..........
