disapointment
ok, so mm finally got to watch le divorce, based so loosely on the diane johnson novel that i barely recognized it.......the pared-down screenplay left most of the subplots unfilmed or on the cutting room floor.......and left out so many characters and combined so many others that i had a hard time figuring out who was who in the reinvented version........the few things that remained true to the book.......roxanne is having a baby, but her french husband has left her for a crazy russian writer/painter......her sister isabelle is having an affair with her sister's husband's aging (age 55) uncle........he buys her a herme kelly bag worth beaucoup euros at the beginning and a hermes scarf worth beaucoup bucks at the end.......and the crazy russian woman's husband goes crazy himself at the finale........other than seeing fine food on lovely plates in upscale restaurants in paris...the film was a bust.....except for the fine aging uncle edgar, played by theirry ______...now he was just perfect as the 'aging' lethario..............we should all be so lucky...........
