home......

ok, so we are home again.....after a really late start.........late because we finally made contact with the only other princeton student from danville......he met us for breakfast....and for a tour.....more on that later.......mostly i want to relish the being at home part.....the petting the cat part.....the new carpet in the front room part...the really foul new-carpet smell......the dog sleeping on the loveseat because the carpet installers did not put the gate back up to keep the dog in the kitchen....yeah, well.....my own mother could very well have forgotten that little detail as well.....i will worry about that in the morning......on the drive we listened to the old man and the sea.....and then mostly through a mrs. polifax mystery.....i selected books on cd that were absolutely appropriate for general listening....only for the youngest to keep her earphones and cd player going the entire way up and back.....and i need not have bothered.....except that if i had not bothered then she would have listened to whatever language/adult situations popped up........ah well.......the mapquest directions were right on the money with regards to time and shortest distance between two spots on the map.........and despite the outrage we all felt about paying tolls......we will get over it in time.......for those who do not have the priviledge of living in the mid-south....the last toll on a ky road was 10 cents on the bluegrass parkway, and it was abolished several years ago because it cost more to collect the toll than it brought in revenue......and so we are totally dismayed to discover that not only do tolls exist in the rest of the lower 48....but also that these tolls are akin to highway robbery.......and so i am home, with 2 full days left on my vacation.......plenty of yard work to pursue.....and a window valance to finish.....and a sunday school lesson to prepare......but nothing happens until i get some sleep, and then catch up on the newspapers.......at this point i have consumed far too much caffeine to sleep......
