challah

ok, so my spouse and my younger son stayed up late sunday night making challah....no doubt inspired by a certain food article that featured multigenerational baking lore........they combined the l.o.'s family recipe with the one from james beard in the c-dub family baking bible....beard in bread.......a little more of this and a little less of that...or so i gathered from overheard conversation.......came close to trying to snap candid photographs......such a touching tableau.....considering the backstory.....the webers actually came to america as bakers......and my spouse's grandpa and his dad and uncles had a bakery in the over-the-rhine section of cincinnati......and thus my spouse grew up immersed in the art of baking......and he seemed so touched that the middle child wanted to learn to bake bread........the hosue still smells faintly with the characteristic aroma of justbakedbread........and it is marvelous ...............
