stealing thy neighbors wi-fi.....
ok, so cnn-money had an article on line today about whether or not it should be illegal to use wi-fi that you have not paid for or do not have specific permission to use........and i say......yes and no.....mostly no.......bear with me....my opinion stems from the notion that wi-fi waves are sent un-bidden- into the atmosphere.......and within a certain range.....may be picked up by anybody with wi-fi equipped electronics......in this light......wi-fi is like.....say....light....should all of the neighbors have to share in the cost of a neighbors secruity light pole just because it shines into their yard.......even though they were not consulted in it's positioning or it wattage?.......and do we ask neighbors to pay for aromas, both good and bad...that come from one's property....say.....the smell of freshly made bread sunday night as opposed to the smell of one's neighbors burning trash.......or should we have to pay for any music overheard from stereos too loud.......should i charge my neighbors a small fee for the priviledge of beholding my rose trellis in full bloom.......it is pleasing to the eye....and has a lovely lemon scent that wafts surely beyond the property line......which brings me back to my point.....if my wi-fi signal travels beyond my boundaries......how can it be illegal if someone else uses it........isn't it my job to safeguard my own personal data........the real concern in the usage of my wi-fi...... obviously, if i caught somebody sitting in a parked car with a laptop......i might think otherwise.....but if my neighbors to the right or left could get a decent signal......have at it...
