seamus heaney

ok, so my eldest child met nobel laureate seamus heaney this week.....this is quite exciting for those who occasionally read poetry as well as for those of us who memorize lists of nobel winners.........this is a poem called song i read online

A rowan like a lipsticked girl.
Between the by-road and the main road
Alder trees at a wet and dripping distance
Stand off among the rushes.

There are the mud-flowers of dialect
And the immortelles of perfect pitch
And that moment when the bird sings very close
To the music of what happens.

mostly i think of seamus heaney when i think of the latest translation of beowolf....such an endeavor....to translate middle english.........
