bbc world service.....

ok, so one of the pleasures of sunday mornings is to wake up to the radio, and listen to the bbc world service....this morning's broadcast involved snippets of interviews from the past year.....one of the more interesting pieces was of an autistic fellow whose particular talent involves numbers....he sees them as shapes/colors/textures.....and this extraordinary response to numbers in his brain allows him to remember number sequences as well as do calculations.......he recently recited pi to the 22,000 place over a 5-hour stretch in oxford simply because nobody had ever done so before......with regards to calculation, he claims not be be doing the math in his head, however........rather, he sees the numbers to be manipulated in their colors/textures/shapes and visualizes the answer......go figure.......there was also an inflamatory exchange with karen hughes, dubya's pawn/undersecretary of state for diplomacy.......who seemed not to have a diplomatic bone in her body.....when asked why it was the view of her govt that resistence to occupation was seen as terror she would not concede that such people as the palestinians had the right to fight back......that any act against israel was a terrorist act......which is curious given that americans who resisted the british occupiers are seen as patriots....which the interviewer failed to point out......ah well.....the most laughable interview was with david hasselhoff.....who expounded on the extent of his world-wide fame......i chuckled aloud, as i have never actually seen the televisions shows for which he is supposedly famous.....and i am unsure if i could pick him out of a lineup.......he put himself in a list if recognizable faces that included lady di, mohammed ali, elvis......what an ego...for someone i wouldn't know from adam......
