march madness.....

ok, so i stayed up last night to watch vcu beat up on duke....and i listened intently for this tournament season's secret term.....ally oop......my very first (secret favorite collegiate team- that school that i currently ignore)basketball memory involves the little black and white television set in my grandmother crown's dining room.....seems the only times that my grandparents watched television during meals was when basketball was covered......and in this particular memory a play was made...and the commentator referred to said play as an alley oop.....at the time there was a cartoon series called...alley oop....some sort of prehistoric theme....and i recall asking what this caveman had to do with basketball.....the wikipedia coverage doesn't quite explain the exact nature of this goal-scoring play....and so i(and then we) waited for somebody to call it during the games we watched (instead of grey's anatomy, i might add)...there was a fleeting moment during the duke game when we thought we heard the words....and we looked at each other pensively......but the moment passed......went to bed before eku was blown out...was sad that davidson was eliminated, if for no other reason that because david, one of my favorite people attends that school....so sorry, david.......today's games were a mixed bag.....georgia tech almost beat unlv.....and winthrop did eliminate notre dame....poor charlotte......i will stay up and watch uk's big dance steps....and hope for the best.......my secret team is involved in tourney play this weekend, but since i am ignoring them in hopes of boosting their chances, i'll forget we had this conversation......
