wheat berries

ok, so i decided it was time to finally cook the wheat berries that i bought when my middle child came home from russia...somewhere along the line we enjoyed a wheat berry salad on the wild oats sald bar....yummmmm..and i foolishly thought that this unrefined grain would cook up in a way similar to bulgur.....just soak in boiling liquid and wait a bit......omg......i ended up microwaving the little buggers for 30 minutes, in 5-6 minute installments until they were soft enough to be chewy but not near tender......the flavor was just fine...i had used part orange juice and olive oil for the liquid....and dressed them up with green onions, celery and thinly sliced baby carrots....i probably ate more than i should have given their general characteristics.....fiber that soaks up fluid and increases in volume.....all this came back to me in the middle of the night when my belly was rumbling.....and i realized that fiber overload might be to blame.....i packed the rest for my lunch.....and i will approach the remainder with caution.....
