april fool's day
ok, so.....as the ultimate april fool's trick....our luggage (and coats) will arrive on a glorious day with sunshine and 65 degree weather...how fair is that?.....we got up early to go to versailles....an hour early because i set my pda in the semi-darkness and mised the hour by one.....and so we were there when it opened...us and 1000 of our closest friends....so we walked down to the hameau and enjoyed the gardens by ourselves........the hameau was restored by sophi coppola for her movie...and it is over-the-top.....my child was thrilled by the goats, the swan, the pigs. the cows.....just precious.....and all of paris seemed to rowing on the canal or running, or biking....such a wonderful day to be in such a wonderful park....the chateau tour has been redone....so many more things on display...we saw the theatre...and the kings bedroom, both of which used to be on view for a supplemental charge.....did not get to see the riding school, and did not go up the eiffel tower, nor the towers of notre dame, nor ice cream at bertholon....because of the hundreds of folks in line before us.....on the other hand, we did go to musee rodin to see the thinker (at cayle's request?!)...and was flabbergasted to see roses in bloom...i intended to upload them, but the cafe computer will not recognize the camera.....lovely photo, take my word for it.....we also saw st. chapelle in its glory.....sunny days are perfect for that monument....and sat at a cafe on place st michelle for wine (me) and citron presse (my child).....her first taste is priceless..she took a gulp before i could tell her to add water and sugar.......now back to the hotel, where i hope to find my luggage.......til tomorrow....
