lecture 62- jane austen.....
ok, so rather than repetitive clicking to cnn for an update, i have turned to a lecture that my eldest has provided...one of a history of literature series that he has in his possession........i find comfort in all things jane......though this lecture focuses on pride and prejudice, it does justice to austen's genre in the larger sense......but i digress from my avoidance of the tragedy at hand.....one gunshot was too much for me.....the reality of 33 dead is just too much too soon......jane was famous for focusing her novels away from the world at large.....she barely mentions bonaparte, or actual combat.......i am certain that many a senior thesis has taken up this omission in her prose.....but i can understand thoroughly the urge to escape the surrounding violence in a simple tale told well.....a 30-minute reflection on elizabeth bennett seems just the thing for an evening such as this.......
