the dead cell phone.....

ok, so my cell phone refused to come on monday......my first assumption was that it's battery had run out by being left on over the weekend....i always try to turn the thing off when i am at home because we get no reception at home so there is no point........but i digress.....plugging it into the recharger gave no signs of life.......i stopped at the cingular store on the way home...wondering aloud if the battery was dead and unable to retain a charge on this aging handset.....the sales rep asked me if the phone had given any signs of impending death......like what, i asked....finding humor in the notion that the phone would give some sort of sign....wtf?.....phones either turn on or they don't.....and so she proceeded to pry off the back, remove the battery, remove the sim card, and then reassemble the pieces....voila...the conundrum phone came back on...like it had been rebooted.....no explanation of why it was dead only to be reborn...but at least for now i can make do with this phone for a while longer.....
