sometimes it works out this way.....

ok, so after spending part of the day at a parents thing at uk, i slipped into the matinée of the jane austen book club....fully expecting it to be a pale reflection of what i recall to be a good book......a good book for an austen fan......what a pleasant surprise.....the movie was much better than i recalled the book to be......i must admit that it has been awhile since i read this particular book, but i am hesitant to reread it anytime soon....as i rather remember the prose exactly as the screenplay flowed through jane's 6 novels.....i especially appreciated that the characters were cast with a broad mind.....no real big names to confuse or confound us......just actors who seem very ordinary aside from their interest in reading austen......i also felt that the screenwriters were true to the spirit of bookclub banter- the conflict of views and the appreciation that each reader comes to a very personal relationship with jane's characters.......not a movie for everybody.......but a nice interlude for this blogger, whose jane action figure keeps watch on my every (typed) word.......
