trick or treat......

ok, so.......we passed out candy at the store this evening...til it ran out around 7:20........then treated ourselves to subway.....no use cranking up the stove at that late hour......a really huge crowd downtown...and an extraordinary number of parents smoking while holding their babies.....or worse.....handing an open bag toward us with a cig hanging out of the mouth.....yecch......the best costume was a 9-10 year old....with a grandpa porkpie hat, and a skinny tie and skinny jeans...and a guitar hanging from a strap behind his neck...and when he came up for candy, he tipped his hat to us, like a street musician might ask for tips......wow...what chutzpah........not something you see in d-ville....where most kids wore lead-laden chinese imported spiderman or dora garb......curiously, treatortreat was tonight...rather than wednesday, which is sacred is these parts and church night...but our church canceled prayer meeting and youth activities because it was halloween.......and so we will all be home for supper tomorrow......when i shall be studying for my eku lecture on the evils of tobacco......
