grass

ok, so.....we were forced to mow our grass this evening despite all the tender new shoots, because the established patches were tall enough to be seen from space if not by car-traffic who take note of neighbors with un-mowed lawns.....and now that the playing field is even....the new shoots look so shabby and thin and wispy compared to the grass that somehow survived the drought......my spouse contends that the new grass will fill out as it matures.....but that knowledge does little to diminish my prevailing sense of failure at the art of grass-growing.....i suppose what i really wanted was to dig it all up and lay sod....the cheater's lawn...the already green and full and lush roll-it-out lawn.....but given that i still have children in college and a travelers addiction to feed.....i am in the grow-your-own mode...no matter how long it takes.....
