clarity

ok, so today was my first....and last yardsale.......and below please finds glimpses of clarity drawn from this experience........for starts....i am not a people person, by any means.....i would rather go on into the house when people stopped by......whereas my spouse is a natural at selling anything to anybody.........we are ying and yang in this and many other regards.........secondly.......i have discovered that the cash in hand earned by such an event pales by comparison to what one draws in tax deductions when the same goods are donated to the goodwill........thus......the 2 vanloads that i trucked on out to south danville made up for the less-than-expected cash.......thirdly......whatever i had on hnd to sell was not what people were looking for.....yet again...i am out of synch with most folks....we actually had someone query in a loud holler out of her car window....did we have a plastic child's play lawnmower?........wow.....in all fo the stuff we saved or gave away before that very moment....who know that it would be the play lawn mower we gave away ages ago that somebody would be willing to pay 50 cents for now.......fourthly........most people out in the real world are not readers.........and will not buy books...even for their children.............so sad..................and lastly......i have so much stuff in my house that i cannot really see where the 2 vanloads of stuff taken to the goodwill left these premises......and that the 8 boxloads of unsold books have barely dented what remains in the house.......granted.....real readers cannot bare to part with books that might be savored at a future date.......and so we have far more books than we have shelving for.......even after a yard sale........we recently visited a home where we noted......later on.....that there were no books in evidence....none on shelves, none on tables......none on counters....not even from a lending library.......these must have been the folks that came our way today.......the nonreading crowd......ah well......at least we are clear on one thing............
