haiku

ok, so last evening we celebrated anniversary, birthday, and the visit of my spouse's eldest brother and his wife.......the rosarian.....who brought a lovely rose called le marne to add to our collection........dinner was outside on the deck......just before it rained again.......my spouse and his brother opted to try their hand at fishing one more time before dark.....stephan went with them to row......while the rest of us gathered on the covered front porch for libations and good conversation......and then the real rains came....the bucketful kind.....the serious kind.....and all we could think about was the three of them....in the boat....soaked to the bone.......but when they finally appeared.......it was in a nearly dry state.....they had found a rock overhang.......and had amused themselves either trying to compose, or trying to remember haiku poems that involved both rain and fishing.......nick has such a framed haiku in his living room.....certainly not what we expected to hear from a boatload of fisherfolks who should have had a miserable time.......back to andrew's 21st........i located the bottle of bordeaux that i purchased years ago...at a grocery in bordeaux.......with a vintage of 1984........a 21 year old wine for a 21 year old child.......if it is no good, i don't want to know........it was truly the thought that counted.....
