kathy with a k.....

ok, so i read with amusement about milar of the boston redsox and his newborn twins....kashten and kylie.......and felt heaps of compassion for children who will spend their entire lives correcting the pronunciation and/or spelling of their names.........this from someone who had trouble with the k/c thing...as well as with my full name kathlyn.......which has been spelled and pronounced in so many variations......with the l removed and an r substituted.....for the traditional spelling.....and then there was the subsequent kathleen, katherine, catherine, kathryn,....you get the picture......and my name is not far off of the mainstream........just a little something my parents thought would set me apart from all of the kathryn's of the world......and the kathryn's in their families i should add.......and for me to compound the confusion with a hyphenated last name speaks volumes on my capacity to handle the dual annoyances of misspelling and mispronunciation.......one can only imagine the indignities that will befall these children......spellcheck for this blog suggested the names gaston and kyle and the correct spellings......my......what a tragic gift those parents have bestowed upon their offspring.......it would have been bad enough with the last name milar.......which many will want to change to miller, or millar.....or mylar.......so many options.......
