shoeboxes......

ok, so i have heard of many things being stowed away in shoeboxes...but this takes the cake....

300-year-old Bach composition discovered in shoebox

Now to what's being hailed as a musical miracle – the discovery of a 300-year-old composition from the master of Baroque music, Johann Sebastian Bach. Researchers say the piece was composed by JS Bach in 1713 to commemorate the 52nd birthday of his patron, the Duke of Saxony.

But the manuscript lay unnoticed for hundreds of years in an old shoebox in a German library, along with a collection of poems and letters to the Duke – until chance stepped in.

ok, so i didn't copy and paste the rest fo the story....especially the part about how the piece was written for harpsichord and soprano......hmmm......i don't know anybody offhand who plays the harpsichord......but i do know a stellar soprano.....too bad we didn't come across this piece before anybody else.....i was thinking today about all i would find.....and decide to keep as i get ready for mm's big yeardsale.........imagine one's surprise if the shoebox special for $1 contained a bach original........not likely in my attic......but it could have happened to that german library if their attic sale had gone un-examined prior to things going out to the make-an-offer sale.........but back to our soprano......she does so well singing all languages.......french, italian......and since she looks faintly aryan.......she is perfect for this bach piece.........ah well.......one day we shall see her on the stage in bayreuth.......not as the fat lady with the trident.....but surely as the glamour parts.........
