ok, so i have finally started the long planned graduation afghan......i have til september 1 to complete it......cream-colored, done in strips for easier portablitity during the process...gentle readers.......the basic pattern is as follows:
row 1 k2,yo, k2tog, k1 , yo, sl1, k1, psso, k5, k2tog, yo, k1, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k2
row 2 k2, p15, k2
row 3 k2, yo, k2tog, k2, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k3, k2tog, yo, k2, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k2
row 4 k2, p15, k2
row 5 k2, yo, k2tog, k3, yo, sl1, k1, psso, k1, k2tog, yo, k3, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k2
row 6 k2, p15, k2
row 7 k2, yo, k2tog, k4, yo, sl1, k2tog, psso, yo, k4, sl1, k1, psso, yo, k2
row 8 k2, p15, k2
it took me about 36 inches to be able to do the entire 8 row sequence without consulting the directions......which is quite pitiable........but i have the hang of it now, so to speak........and though i occassionally come up with extra stitches.......i am done with strip #1 and on to strip #2........the skeptics might ask.....why?..........when my child going away to college already has an afghan.......a multicolored favorite that has a bit of age to it........this one comes from me.......a last grasp at mothering, nurturing, protecting......and making this has become important to me.....in that spiritual sense.........and when this is done i shall take back up the quilt i started for my eldest when he went off to college.......here's hoping i can finish it as his graduation gift.......
