oprah in paris......

ok, so i read with a gutteral laugh the web report of oprah's foiled shopping trip to hermes.......the ultra high-end accessories store in paris......the place with the $10,000 handbags.....they still make saddles, by the way.....but the scraves, ties, shoes and handbags are their bread and butter......so oprah and her team arrived 15 minutes after closing, without the courtesy of a call ahead....and were shocked that the store would not open up for them....the staff was in the midst of setting up for a pre-arranged in-store event......and could not accomodate the american queen of daytime television.......although, the french staff of hermes probably did not have instantaneous face recognition with oprah.......she is not widely known outside these shores despite a billion in the bank........hermes has issued an apology........but i beg to differ with this stance........oprah just showed up, unannounced...in a country that doesn't know her....and now oprah is claiming that the store somehow turned her away because 'they had been having trouble with north africans, lately'........all this to-do is wasted on people like me, who can only gaze into hermes windows....and hope that i find a hermes scarf in a parking lot somewhere.....note:....my current favorite scarf was found in lousiville on a snowy evening outside my favorite thai restaurant, beside my front tire......nobody was around.....and i took it as a sign from god......or at least a gift from god.......but i digress........shopping hours are clearly posted, oprah....sometimes being the richest woman in the world isn't enough to turn back the hands of time......
