whites............

ok, so i am a slave to white wine..................which is something infinitely more interesting to being a slave to public television (a quote from sex, lies and videotape........) anyway, i digress...............i enjoy whites, all whites.....and abhor reds....all reds.......well, not all whites all of the time....i have left behind my germanic whites period........sometime after i visited the family homestead in lambsheim.....or maybe after our playful luncheon looking for spies in cologne.....i have several bottles in the garage(reislings and gewurz.) and they are too sweet to make it into the house............these days i like dry, but not too dry, and tangy but not too fruity.......none of those wines that taste like they have pureed raspberries hidden somehow in the recipe................i have had this before.....at my own wedding.....................when my family made a 'punch' out of pureed red raspberries......it was festive........but not what i want now.........then there is the buttery aspect.....i like the buttery quality of glen ellen chardonnay, but we cannot buy glen ellen from our suppliers......there is no reason to drink wines that one cannot buy at wholesale prices.......so what wine really hits the spot.......my friend gail and i shared a bottle of mondavi fume blanc earlier this week.....it was superb.........crisp, happy.......... i have visited mondavi in napa......with my friends who still live in the oakland area.......mostly i remember the tremendous fight they had (20 years ago.......) in the parking lot of conn creek.............i have seen them several time since......and never mention this event......in fact, my friend beth and i have the same everyday china.......wedgewood midwinter white.....and the same cookware..........which was surreal to discover when i cooked them breakfast in the house they sold in s.f. for nearly double what they paid.......enough of this........i have visited numerous wineries.......moselles, pouillys, loires, alsatians....chateneaux-du-papes.....(sp) .......epernay..................and i still prefer whites........................when i visited bordeaux i tasted the reds, but preferred the whites.......i have also tasted ky whites..................they are laughable, even those produced in danville.................but then these are right-wing brews, and out of my spectrum.............................
