ok, so i didn't actually run at this annual event......i walked......with she who takes people to france to buy antiques in provence.....and though i have found her to be exasperating company in paris, i enjoyed the access to her wealth of knowledge on the sites in and around paris...turns out she has been to chantilly, and while she couldn't remember the promised stables she did confirm that it is close enough to paris for a day trip and easy to locate from the train.....and she had a good suggestion for a hotel.....a plce on the rue de rivoli across from the tuilleries.....not that i am willing to pay extra for a room on the park side high enough to see anything.....but the location would avoid lots of metro trips and long walks...and it is the long walks with a potentially uncooperative teen that i am trying to moderate as much as possible......i am unclear about reasonably priced dining in the area.....of course, there is always the food court at the louvre, which i can see working out well because our daughter can point at what she wants.......even if it is pizza.....and thankfully the food court in question serves wine.....and it is next to angelina's for hot chocolate...it could work.....
