iowa
ok, so......both the mm and the md sat up late to watch ohio state beat iowa 38-17.......and at some point the md turned to me and commented.....'we've been to iowa, haven't we....'...yep....we have been to iowa.....we got the call that our middle child was in an iowa hospital and needing to stay over around 11:00 pm....and by midnight we were in the car heading west.......the sun was rising as we passed the arch in st louis......and by early afternoon we were checking our boy out of his spare ward room, and heading back home......some day i would like to do the ride across iowa.....the scenery was idyllic as i recall...rolling farmland......quintessential midwest......as is the great state of ohio, by and large......and so it was bittersweet to watch the game last evening.....so few buckeye fans in the sea of yellow and black.....seems iowa fans are not prone to selling their tickets to scalpers, especially out-of-town ones.....kind of like what it feels to be a buckeye fan in kentucky......maytag repairman lonely.......thankfully our daughter did not get into the 'i want iowa to win' thing like she did with texas just to see if she could get a rise out of me/us......she was much too tired after her cross country meet, and much too interested in replaying the soundtrack to cats in her room......much as i like cats i was pleased that the sound didn't carry down the stairs and around the corner......doesn't sound like there will be many more televised ohio state games until the big one in november....and it is quite possible that when michigan rolls into the horseshoe stadium in colubus they could be ranked #2 behind osu's #1........wouldn't that be awesome....and nerveracking.......but the bucks looked really, really good.....especially with their defense, who intercepted 3 times last night alone....and it was those interceptions that finally destroyed iowa's momentum.....go bucks!
