my class.......

ok, so....my class this evening was more talkative than usual .......and this is a good thing.....the chapter was on addictive behaviors and drug abuse.....mostly on psychoactive drugs......though caffeine counts in this category and this drug was especially thought-provoking.....when compared to legalized or decriminalized marijuana......i had given great thought to a celebrity poster child for each class of drug.....say....ozzie osborne for hallucinogens.....and cheech/chong for marijuana.....and rush limbaugh for narcotics......yeah well...painkillers are narcotics.....and that was before he got caught with a bottle of viagra not his own........i did learn many things studying this chapter......to the extent that i called in a nurse to look at my client's baby in clinic today, when really i wanted the nurse to look at the client's overly dilated pupils and to take in the faint aroma of burnt rope.....and this is where public health gets difficult......deciding that you client is 'sober' enough to drive away safely into the world at large, or deciding to call the police.....and whereas i rarely repeat the company line about keeping substances out of the house to protect the children i did so today.....lest this mama leave about any butts in the ashtray that could be eaten by a toddler who doesn't know food from poison......i will worry about my choice to not do anything.....but then i worry so much about so many things...... i really need to let loose of those things that i cannot control......
