sapphires and garlic......

ok, so...while it was hot and humid this afternoon i read sapphires and garlic, by ruth reichl about her stint as the nyt food critic......i am especially fond of a book that can be savored in one sitting....or at least between miserable bouts of weeding the area behind the heritage pink rose and up past the forsythia.....this task was best done in short spurts, with ample time to rehydrate and recover......and reading about a food critic dressing up as alter egos was just what i needed....and the food she ate while she was undercover....oh my.......the poor woman ate out 12 times a week, on the company dime......luckily for her she was well-versed in fine food.....could guess all the secret ingredients.....and had a cozy writing style........she has since moved on to gourmet magazine, which i dropped in favor of saveur...because every article seemed to be the same......ah well......i did enjoy her book.............
