a complete listing of my failures.....

ok, so this is my day off.....and to make good use of it i got up early, read the paper, blogged a bit, then drove off to the nursury to get a truckload of mulch.......for those gentle readers familiar with my landscaping scheme......i cleared out, then mulched heavily in front of the fence.....under the boxwood...etc......all the way around the corner to the redbud.........i had not yet gotten to that this season....and so it is done.....there was mulch left....so i took the rest around back by the oakleaf hydrangia and the japanese maple by the pond.......saw the frog, by the way....it is so comforting to have a frog in one's pond.......ecw worked on the pump, which was gummed up.......and then.....i started in clearing away dead-stuff like daylily stems that have played out, etc.......and then there was the visit from my across the street neighbor....otherwise known as my mother......who started in on the things that i should have done differently with my yard.....beginning with..'you know, the pears would be so much easier to pick off this tree if you had espaliered it'...........yes, ma'am.....it would be easier to pick those pears had i a personal gardener, who knew how to espalier...........but that did not happen and so i will live with picking the pears that are up high as best i can..........i do not think that she makes mention of these things to be mean.....she sincerely thinks that it is her job to point these things out, just in case these failures have missed my notice........and when i have considerable time on my hands......maybe after i have espaliered the pear tree.......i will provide you, my gentle readers, with a complete, exhaustive listing of my failures....just in case you have failed to notice these lapses....maybe i iwll even treat you to the list provided by my late mother-in-law.....just to make things balanced...........for starts, she used to wonder why we didn't bulldoze the place and build a nicer house on the lot next door........
