the quince tree.....
ok, so there was so much made of my huge pear tree today...that i forgot to really look at the quince tree.....which has not been pruned in a coon's age....as they say around these parts........and therefore it makes sense that there is only 1 quince...that i could see in the semi-darkness.......and that makes me sad.....sad because the quince is a traditional fruit for jelly-making for the crown's.......and sad because i have not made time to coddle this tree......not that i coddle any living plant....i believe in benevolent neglect........i care deeply for the plants that i fail to care for.....see my previous blog for more on my personal failures..........what one sees in my garden is clear survival of the fittest......any plants that can handle drought, lack of fertilizer, lack of pruning, weeding, kind words......those are the plants that i see today in my dimly lit yard.......a truly darwinesque biosphere.......oohh....i like that term.......maybe next year i can rally and prune the quince...and be able to make 1 batch of jelly............
