the interview......

ok, so the interview went well........considering that i have not interviewed in recent memory.............the committee was unpredicted.........a nurse who i used to work with at the hospital........who was pleased that i remembered that she won a recipe contest for her pumpkin roll..........another nurse who was featured in a food/nutrition column i once did for the newspaper..............an administrator who had once heard me speak.......and a director who was impressed that i had done enough homework to have called my neighbor...who is the director of our local health department...to ask about the job openings, working conditions, skeletons............as well as to have called 2 different people who have worked with him...........so that is how we got started........aside from my passing out my resume and shaking hands........and putting names with faces.......the job(s) is basically doing things that i have done before......i was assured as i left that i would hear from them with an offer monday or tuesday....i just do not know for which opening.....and at this point i'll not quibble............the job is close enough that i can drive cayle to school before going to work.....there are more paid holidays in a single year than i have had off in 4 years.........and my favorite chinese carryout place is on the way home................we did not talk salary......the salary listed in the paper is actually more than i am, making now................so i will not quibble about that either..........frankly, i would consider this job to be an improvement in my quality of life...........37.5 hours a week, good benefits.....lots of days off.......low-key dress code......close to home.....no saturdays/sundays......rare evenings..........life is good........................or will be after i hear from them.........i have put by a nice bottle of champagne.......but i am saving that for when the sale of my share in the restaurant has gone through.................
