thomas jefferson.....

ok, so i could not make it through this weekend without an ode to old tom.....master gardener, architect, francophile, gourmand, traveler....scholar....and statesman......we do hold these truths to be self-evident........i have been to monticello almost as many times as i have been to paris.....i find the simplicity of his home design so perfectly elegant....a baseball aside...i visited monticello on the same day that hank aaron broke babe ruth's home run record.....in 1974.........it was spring break......anyway.....i have purchased jefferson pewter cups for my children at each of our visits together....which i will have engraved as time shall tell......in danville, people love the traditional julep cup...tallish.....but i like the jefferson cup......so perfectly proportioned..........ah well.......jefferson and john adams died on the same day...july 4, 1825..........i know this...because when you visit a place umpteen times.....you start to learn the script......
